Using the forums- how to include an image

I have been using DropBox for , well ever since DropBox started. I would like to include an image in a post but when I copy the DropBox public link to insert into my post, nothing shows when posted.

Is the DropBox link somehow hostile to the forum? Should I be using some other photo sharing service? Which do you use?

Just attach the image to the post and then link to the attached image.

If you link to dropbox then eventually you'll remove the image and there will just be a big box with an x in it. That's not good.

See here: (Out of Date) Guide: How to Insert Uploaded Images in a Post - Website and Forum - Arduino Forum

No, Dropbox simply does not allow a link to be used to get embedded, only used to link to it.

As I said, I've been using DropBox since day one of DropBox. I embed images from my public DropBox folder on a lot of other forums, but for some reason they don't appear only in posts here.

so, from my original question, what file-sharing service do you use?

As stated the best option is to use the Arduino forum to host the images and following this thread will show you how.

"Just attach the image to the post and then link to the attached image. "

That sounds ridiculously circular. How do you attach an image to the post? The only option in the header is to "Insert an image", which asks for a URL- not unusual for most forums. So I insert the URL of an image in my public folder on DropBox. In other forums I use, this works just fine. Here, however, nothing shows.

The link just says "attach the image to the post". I don't mind hosting the image here, but how do you attach it to the post? There's no "Attach" icon in the header.

See post #1. It *is * clunky. Some of the wording may have changed slightly. You also need to have a bit of text in the reply 'cuz the forum won't accept an empty post.

Mm, had to Google it an yeah there is a way to do it. But you will have to change the link yourself. It might be that other forums change the link for you. But as you can see from the random picture of my dropbox it does work fine.

OK, I missed the "you can't use "Quick Reply" in the how-to host on the forum post.

But that still doesn't explain why images hosted on external sites (I tried DropBox and Google Images) don't show.

Show an example link you tried  As I showed you, works fine.

Here a Google Dive image as well

Answered and link provided in first response. Why you ignore that?

There was a link there with instructions. Did you not read that? It tells exactly how to do it.

This Simple Image Guide may help.

I missed the "you can't use "Quick Reply" in the 'how-to host on the forum' post.
