First things first. What will the electrics be and how will they be connected to and identified to your Arduino?
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
The pedal board will be used with a Yamaha Electone HX3 which already has MIDI as standard. I intend to use reed switches and magnets on the pedals, the configuration of these is still to be decided. The rest of the electrics is undecided but would be connenected to the HX3 with a standard MIDI cable. This is somewhat vague but advice is requested to determine what to do.
Many thanks for your interest.

Shielded two conductor wire with the shield ONLY connected to ground at the electronics end.
Bar magnets parallel to the reed switch body to limit reed bounce.
Label the wires!
Hi, Sorry again for the delay in replying, when the pedal board has been fully populated with the reeds and magnets which Arduino unit would you use to convert the signals to Midi?
Many thanks , Geof.
