WEMOS 8x8 REG LED Shield examples

I have been using LOLIN WEMOS D1 Mini and C3 Mini for a year now with the 7LED RGB Shield successfully. Unfortunately they have now discontinued that and I have to use the 8x8 RGB LED Shield. I'm expecting the code to be quite different. Their website link for example code is broken on GitHub, so I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone have an example for this shield? It's still on order so I'm trying to find the code and read through the code before it gets here.
