I am making a sensor project - details not important - and am using an Arduino Mega.
I am going to print some PCBs for my project and I would like to integrate the Mega into my PCB board. I have already seen and used the open source schematic for the Mega.
My question is - What ATMEGA2560 can I use THAT WILL BE SUPPORTED BY ARDUINO IDE?
For example, I have seen a bunch of ATMEGA2560 like ATMEGA2560-16au, ATMEGA2560-16U-TH, ATMEGA2560-16CU etc.
As we are all aware there is a massive shortage of silicon chips in the world and I just want to know if I can substitute the ATMEGA2560-16au with any other ATMEGA2560
Not sure about your exact needs but you might be interested in actually inserting a Mega 2560 Pro Mini directly into your design. You get a fully functional arduino MEGA in a small package that way (of course you might have components you don't need) but no need to worry about soldering all those small pins
