What is the best building material for arduino project?

Yes it was "kinda" clear, but mostly to yourself I guess. For future interactions, take your time to better describe what you're trying to achieve. In this case "I wanna build a platform for a waterturret" would've given us something to visualize and to better understand. Not much details needed, that will be asked for during the thread.

i dont wanna build a box to put the project in, i want to literally build something from the material,...

Keep beating around the bush.

Yeah... my bad guys.

Important is to learn from this and move on.

Do you have a sketch of the platform that you can upload? Also tell how much the water turret weighs.

i did have a cad design of the project, its mostly just squares and lines, hope it helps

How high should the platform be?

Will it be used indoor or outdoor?

I want it tk move vertically 10 cm up and down. And it will be indoors

In that case, use a stool. If it's a nice one you don't wanna fasten things in it with screws or nails, but I'm sure you're clever enough to solve that.

It's ok but you can't use screws or nails, only glue. It is low quality, and very thin. Get a hot glue gun, It is much stronger than you might think. Also good quality CA glue (get a medium, and thin ) and accelerator. There is also a glue you use with a UV light to cure, easy to work with and cures very hard.
The advantage of CA is a debonder undoes it instantly!
Good luck.

I have super glue, hot glue, and i do the superglue plus baking powder trick. Also the thin layer in the cad isn't exactly what im gonna put, im definitely putting a thick layer under. The wood in the amazon link is good right? Also is this handsaw good?

Why the hell is tbe link in arabic? Maybe because its amazon.eg

It's so so, but that thin wood will give you problems. Either just use a craft knife to score then break, or a much smaller saw.
Do an amzon search on 'box cutter'. Pick one that looks more robust. You will of course need a straight edge of some sort and ALWAYS keep hands behind the sharp edge.
I can't recommend ANY saw for that 'wood'.
I don't think about the 'box' until after I have a working prototype. Then I consider what I will use to make the circuit permanent like strip board or one of the soldered breadboards. Once I know that then I will lok for a plastic box, or print my own. Good luck.

Alright i found a thicker piece of wood that is used in the pictures to make tables so i think its strudy https://www.amazon.eg/gp/aw/d/B08FFL8834/ref=ox_sc_act_image_3?smid=A1K0II5EV3O0JU&psc=1

Also found a smaller hand saw. Or i could just use a razor in my house and snap the wood

.. maybe stick with the sawdust :upside_down_face:

I found a mini hacksaw. Whats even the difference between normal handsaws and hand hacksaws? Here is the link for it:

The size I'd say. I got a small (hand?) hacksaw, it makes a smaller cut, but it doesn't work for bigger objects. If you have large piece of wood, the handsaw is the right tool.

You'd be surprised. MIT has a document (and a class, I think) on building machine prototypes with cardboard: Cardboard Machine Kit: Modules for the Rapid Prototyping of Rapid Prototyping Machines

I understand your problem, I had the same trouble at first. You could try the thin plywood, it is light, strong and can be easily cut with a cutter. Otherwise, expanded PVC (Forex) is also a good option, it is rigid and simple to work with. Aluminum or plastic rods can also help with the structure. Also look at the side of the bamboo chopsticks, they are solid and cheap.

Yeah, it is just pretty hard to know the perfect material for a build. You know what? I think im gonna stick with cardboard but im gonna use it the right way like people said in this topic. I think this topic would be so helpful for someone looking for a material just because of the amount of options that were listed here😄

I have also done a lot of prototyping with posterboard: the stuff that's paper on the outside and foam on the inside. Some gave me a bunch of it that they were throwing out and it turned out to be very useful.
