What's going on with all those AI generated comments?

Continuing the discussion from SBK_BarDrive – LED bargraph driver and non-blocking animation queue:

Ok what's going on with all those AI generated comments with no real opinion or useful information ! What's the point and who's doing this, it's a waste of power, time, etc.

Flag them. I did/do. I posted about their increasing frequency and growing volume, but my posts get taken down due to "how I say things." Some say bots have feelings.

Hi @sbarabe. I split this tangential post out to a dedicated topic to allow us to freely discuss the important subject without derailing the topic about your nice library.

If you see any posts you believe are malicious or otherwise in violation of the forum rules, please raise a flag. You can do that by clicking the ⚑ icon at the bottom of the problematic post. This will ensure the post is brought to the attention of the moderators.

We do allow responsible use of AI generated content on Arduino Forum. Some legitimate users utilize AI to translate posts composed in their native language to English. Some might also think it is beneficial to have an AI rewrite their post with the goal of improving clarity/grammar/formatting. So we will not take disciplinary action solely because a post is AI generated.

However, spammers often use AI generated posts as a "trojan horse" to sneak their spam links onto our forum. Thus, we do carefully monitor new users who make AI-ish posts. So if you don't see evidence that the moderators took action in regards to your post, please don't leap to the conclusion that we are ignoring the situation.

The moderation team cares deeply about keeping Arduino Forum safe and clean, and work 24/7/365 to do so. However, we must also be careful to avoid unfairly banning legitimate users based on unwarranted conclusions. So we do give users the benefit of the doubt if we don't have clear evidence of malicious intent. However, we have special systems in place to efficiently monitor suspect users and mitigate the harm they might do if they are in fact malicious. We will always take action immediately when we do collect sufficient evidence to conclude an account is malicious.

I was suspicions about 2 answers that were literal remake of my original post with some polished flattery that didn't bring nothing. They seem suspicious because who write answers that long to say nothing...

Anyway they were both caught by moderators before I could flag them.

Thanks for the feedback and have a nice day.

But you and I can tell the difference between me making a grammatical mistake after copy/pasting my thought-fragments and a bot faking a language impediment and the innocence of a human using a translator.

You will have bot-runaway without strong anti-bot action, to include "human" tricks like banks use to verify you are not a bot, just to obtain an account. I ran a bulletin board that I had to briefly shut down due to runaway bot accounts (thousands was a lot for this little site), write to the author and wait for the next security upgrade.

I understand Admin is always in catch up mode, even with all your security efforts. Been there.
