Where to buy digital thermometer food probe (heat resistant)

Hi,

I'm trying to find somewhere that sells cheap heat resistant digital probes such as in the picture below. So far I've found the probes with the digital measurement unit, but not without... I guess I'm using the wrong search terms... can anyone help?

I have the iDevice Thermometer, but both my probes are broken.. and they cost a whopping 25 USD each to replace (link) + shipping and import tax. Was hoping that I could find some cheap replacements, or create my own arduino temperature sensor :slight_smile:

Probes recalled?

Not seeing a description of what kind of thermocouple is used, such as J-K type.

Especially with some of the import stuff, it is often cheaper to buy the whole unit and only keep the part you need than trying to buy a replacement part - especially if you can find what you are looking for in the local discount store etc. Remember - "it doesn't have to make sense" :o

I'll bet one of the wires is broken from flexing right where it enters the plug or probe, can you cut the cable
near the plug (leave enough to splice) and ohm both ways? If its a thermocouple there's not much hope of fixing but maybe you can find out what type it is.

I just bought two of these (link) probes on eBay
and this (link) 2.5 mm jack. I hope I'm able to create a replacement for the iDevice probes. If I'm lucky maybe they will work even better... or not at all.

Hope you got a plug with screw or crimp terminals, TC wire is very difficult or impossible to solder. :sob:
