I don't think the 3 quotes in the Original Post "prove" anything apart from 2 of the people in the world have a problem and another guy has a question.
And even if you did have some statistically reliable evidence of a problem I can't see any connection between your Title and your 10 points - which seem more like the sort of comment I would expect to hear on the silly BBC Radio2 Jeremy Vine "news" show.
Referring to the Tesla car death is just ridiculous. How many people were killed or maimed by "ordinary" cars on the same day?
Everyone has something that they are apprehensive about doing. I would not like to try singing, for example. But computer programming has always seemed simple and obvious.
I think the thing that many people have trouble with is the fact that computers are utterly stupid so it is incredibly easy to write a wrong program. And I do think some people are very poor (illogical) at debugging failed programs.
To some extent, programming is (or is viewed as) a talent like being able to paint, write a novel or create music. There are "poorly educated" people that are very good at it, and highly educated people that aren't very good at it (even PhDs in computer science...) Trying something like that can be scary, especially if you've always been "smart" at other things.
None of your links mentioned Arduino. To a significant extent, the Arduino experience specifically tries to get people past that fear, but being "easy" and avoiding some industry-standard but scary terms (like using "sketch" and "upload" instead of "program"...)
