I am looking to use a car windshield washer pump for an application. It would be running for extended periods of time (PWM controlled for flow rate). Anybody have any experience in using them? Tips for extending life?

Might be worth tracking down its specs, to see if it's actually got a continuous rating
If it's off a recently made vehicle, they should be pretty cheap at an auto wrecking yard.

Junk yards cost time to get to. I can walk to an auto parts store and pick on up for $20. Trico. Might even be able to get a repair kit to rebuild if the motor is OK. Just wondering if someone has played with on of long term use.
There is one way to find out.
I would expect that running at full power would overheat it in a few minutes.
Lower speeds would probably work for long periods. But does it actually have good speed consistency at low power?
It may be worthwhile pulling the pump head off and putting a stepper underneath.
