Two small suggestions, to add my voice to those who came before me (and in no way meant to challenge the moderators)....

2 posts per five minutes (even two per ten minutes, as silly as it sounds) would fix some of these issues...

EDITING is not posting. I cannot flood the board with spam no mater how many times I edit the same post.
As Robin2 pointed out: It's very challenging for people, especially those new to the board, to catch all mistakes.
What happens, practically, it every time I've made a new thread, there's a page of discussion over what was an error on my part in the first place. By the time everyone's read the 5 posts it takes to get my original meaning, I don't feel the thread (and by extension the community) is better off.
If there were a way to allow edits, I feel it would make the board better for all. Just my two cents.
