Hi has any tried controlling this type of industrial hydraulic solenoid valve to actuate hydraulic piston? It’s a 12v dc but I don’t have additional specs or design doc so don’t know the expected amps.. may be 2A.
Hello mashaikh23
Welcome to the worldbest Arduino forum ever.
Take a DMM and make some measurements.
Thanks could you please elaborate? I am be using 12v car battery just to activate it but my fear is not to melt it.
Without the manufacturer's specifications, anyone would just be guessing.
IT has a metal case and when you mount it on a large piece of metal you will not be able to melt it.
Besides, the hydraulic fluid will cool it!
OEM product. Use only as in the original installation.
Take your DMM and measure the resistance and use Ohm's law.
Hi, @mashaikh23
Welcome to the forum.
How do you know it is 12V operation and not 24V?
Can you please tell us your electronics, programming, arduino, hardware experience?
Thanks.. Tom..

I am novice for everything. The voltage is and resistance is from the spec sheet.
What spec sheet?

You answered your own question in post #9
Current = 2.542 Amps
Your questions are very helpful . ![]()
Yup I am getting better. ![]()
Someone found the specs of a similar solenoid for me and told me the voltage and resistance.
A 12V 4A or 5A supply should be adequate to operate the solenoid.
So how much heat will it generate?
P = I x V.
So 12V x 2.542A = 30.5W
It will get hot
Hi, @mashaikh23
They come as 12V and 24V it seems.
What is the resistance of your solenoid, have you actually measured it with DMM?
Thanks... Tom..

A hydraulic piston usually moves in two directions. You have not described how your valve functions. Please draw a block diagram of your hydraulic system and include your solenoid valve.
