2.3.8 - Setting changed require restart - now no menu bar

I know I have seen something like this before, and will search for it in a bit.

But - it happened again on my Windows 11 machine.

Not sure what changed or how... I just started up the IDE, first time today...

Trying to remember what steps it takes to get things back:

Steps to get back to a normal behavior

  1. Close all IDE instances.
  2. Start the IDE.
  3. Sometimes you have to close and start the IDE a few times before it comes right. My record is 3 times (if memory serves me well).

Thanks,

It took 3...

Question still is, what caused this? Also I have had random times when all my settings were lost, like Serial monitor on the right...

This bug has been reported to the Arduino IDE developers here:

Thanks @ptillisch - I knew I saw something from before... Although
it has been a while...

I've seen the serial monitor happen once. After checking the setting (under preferences) I discovered that the warning level was reset to default as well, something I never would have done.

I too have seen several settings change at random. Should we be reporting them?

Yes I have had this a couple of times as well, and like you would never have set it to the default!

Good question, it is probably all related to the one @ptillisch mentioned above.

At this point, I figure they are aware of some of these, but probably busy up to their eyeballs with other things.

Is this because the shift to Ai assisted coding?
Now people have to do more to fix Ai screw-ups?

The last stable IDE was 1.8.19.
I still prefer it over V2.
