20X4 2004A lcd does not respond.

Hi,

I have (some sort of) the same problem. I have an 20x4 2004A lcd screen and an arduino duemilanove with the hello world loaded. everything is wired correctly (including a pot). I only changed the sort of lcd (16x2 to 20x4) in the code.

The result I'm getting is that the left top corner shows the text (not completely) and the rest of the screen shows randomly filled in pixels.

What am I doing wrong?

Could it be the same as this one? LCD display burns - Displays - Arduino Forum Just a broken lcd? I have had an short circuit in the system but I thought the lcd wasn't affected because it wasn't the particle creating the short-circuit.

That is most probably correct.

Thanks, then I'm going to do the same. Buy a new one and throw away the old one.

Well, maybe, but when you are a bit more advanced you may well want to follow mlowther's procedure.
