Guys, anyone know any sensor that would capture the spatial position (x, y, z) relative to some fixed reference? as in the video, would like to measure the Cartesian coordinates (x, y, z), where the sensor moves ....to be measured, the piece are fixed (they can not be rotated).
Its like a 3D scanner.. But I need the curve generated where the sensor moves..
The object can have up to 1.5x1.5x1.5 meters .. it is a little big; And the precision that must be must be +/- 2.5mm
any sensor that would capture the spatial position (x, y, z) relative to some fixed reference?
The spatial position of what? The sensor itself? I don't think any such thing exists.
We use reflective targets, with three mirrors at right angles, picked up by a laser scanner, to locate tooling prior to laser projection of boundaries, but they work only by being at known locations - sort of the opposite of what you are looking for.
