5-12V DC pump doesn't start through relay

ok for transistor, now put led to #20 on your bread board to see if you are ON or Off
dont forget resistor for your LED

if you hear it click, it should be changing state on the relay contacts.

if you can get the pump to run by connecting a jumper from the 12v ground to the screw on the pump connection,

That would prove the 12 power connection has good contact
and the motor to screw terminal has good contact.

as a note,
so far, I have not see the LED on the relay module glow.

Can you take a close up of the logic side of the relay ?

Relays work, but led doesn't glow

Emm, whats is logic side of relay?

relay module has two sides.
the NO/COMM/NC is the 'power side' or output

the signals and relay power is the 'logic' side.

the LED on the relay board is part of the logic circuit for the OPTO isolator.
if that does not glow, then the power is not enough to get it to glow.

Hi,
PLEASE get out pen(cil) and paper and draw your circuit.
Include.

  • Labels on all connections.
  • Show ALL power supplies and how they are connected.
  • Label ALL component and their leads, eg 2N2222.
  • Make sure you show and label ALL the relay PCB terminals.

Then post a picture of it.
PLEASE do not use Fritzy CAD, your hand has all the component symbols you need.

Do you have a DMM?

Thanks.. Tom... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

Relay logic

there is a close up of a similar looking module from banggood

with the output side on your right
inputs on the left,

the connections are written upside down
but are

VCC
GROUND
signal

I like to use pen
I case can't real my handwriting, Transistors 2N2222, resistor 500om, diode IN4007

Ye, i have almost the same

Yes sir, i bought from here

Hi,
I know I'm posting a Fritzy, but this was on the site linked to the relay.

Replace the power lead and lamp with your power supply and pump.
Use COM and NO terminals on the Relay.

Unfortunately this bit of description defies belief.

Connection:
S Controller pins + 5V | - GND
NC not used Common entrance NO output
Dimensions: 18mm x 40mm x 19mm, 15 g.
Relay module 5V
JQC3F-05VDC-C Hong wei HW-482
Compatible with KY-019, SRD-05VDC-SL-C
TTL Control Signal 5VDC - 12VDC
Maximum AC 10A 250VAC, DC 10A 30VDC
Module consist of a 1MĪ© resistor, a Power indicator LED and a 1N4007 rectifier diode
Caution! Attach to a non-conducting base before use!
Pinout:
S Arduino Pin | + 5V | - GND
NC not used Common input | NO output
Size: 18mm x 40mm x 19mm, 15 g.

Tom.... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

holding the relay with the pins on the left and the screws on the right.....

is this correct ?

top pin = signal
center = Vcc
bottom = Ground

which is your Vcc is connected to :
Vin ? or the 5V

I would say to connect things back up with the
Vcc to a 5 volt source and like someone had asked, to connect your meter to that and watch what happens when you activate the relay.

connect 12 V to the motor
motor ground to common

connect NC to the 12v ground rail.
the pump should spin until you activate the relay.

Once you connect to 12v the pump should spin, proving all the power is working
changing state of the relay would open the circuit and shut off the power.

once that works, move the ground to the N/O connection. try again

Hi,
Images from linked site.

Relays center Vcc is connected to arduino 5v

the relay notes say the LED is for power indication.
but the schematic shows it as part of the signal line.

Hi,
Have you tried the connection in post#34?

Tom... :grinning: :+1: :coffee: :australia:

Ye, i think issue might be in pump it self, because some times it start working from direct 12v, sometimes not
