65CFM from a 2.4W computer fan?

I have a high-power LED project that needs quite a bit of airflow to stay cool, and I found some computer fans here rated at 65CFM. Does 65CFM from a fan using 200mA seem reasonable? Chinese ebay sellers are known for their incorrect product descriptions.

It might be "optimistic".

The Jameco Catalog has a page of fans and most are not that efficient.

This is a 2400RPM fan and will be noisy as hell.

That would imply that the 22.5 dba rating is inaccurate if I'm correct.

Maybe it is that silent when it's off.

This is a 90mm fan. They generally have a higher RPM than 120mm. And are noisier.

Try a computer repair shop. You might get a pile of used fans for free.

Wow! That's great to know. Anyway, my project will need quite a bit of airflow (probably more than 100 CFM), as I'm using a .032" sheet of aluminum as a heatsink.

Ask for a CPU heatsink with fan in the computer shop.
A lot of them are thrown away new and unused when custom PCs for gamers are build.

Speed controlling a 4-pin CPU fan is another nice Arduino project.
