Knowing these conventions do help everybody to quickly understand your problem if you draw your schematic the right way.
And... frequently help yourself to find the solution to your own problem. 
Meesoft Diagram Designer is a very easy application to use for drawing simple circuit diagrams.
You need to download and install whichever templates you want to use.
In the image you can see I've used the "Electronic Symbols 2" template.
Just drag and drop symbols onto the page and join with lines.
For more sophisticated circuits and diagrams you need a more powerful package like Eagle.
