Adding IR Receiver to LG Computer Monitor- Updated Added IR and completed

The Situation:
I have a Lg 24 monitor that we wanted to wall mount in our bedroom and use as a TV for Firestick Tv ,it has an HDMI input, and built in speakers, so we thought this would be perfect with a Amazon Firestick on it.

The Problem:
There is no remote for this monitor (it never had one). The monitor is being mounted across the room, and it is inconvenient to walk across the room to push the volume/power buttons/mute or any other command .
Also it doesnt has diffrent buttons but 5 Way Tactile Joystick switch.

The Solution:

Take apart the monitor and add in an Arduino controlled IR receiver; basically turn it into a Sony (compatible, i have extra sony remotes) TV.

I dont know how to to do it using arduino nano , how to add and make it ir reciever . We need to control 5 button points as my monitor board has a 5 way tactile joystick type switch.

Things to keep in mind :

  1. at initial every 5 leads should be low and shouldnt short with common (gnd)
  2. when a single button is pressed not any other button should be shorted. (each at a time ).
    Please help me out.

refer -

you can go through this link , it was done by some one back in 2012 . kind of same but somewhat diffrent .

because .

i have 5 way joy stick .

up - Picture mode / also does up selection.
down - mute / also does down selection .
left - in firestick mode it works for volume down ,
right - in firestick mode it works for volume up ,
center button - this works for OK , As well when pressed for long time power offs the Monitor . also pressing again turns it on .

IS that before power is turned on to the monitor? What is the ACTUAL voltage on the switches when the monitor is turned on?
Solder wires to the switch contacts and test touching them together to see if they operate that way or do the switches OPEN the circuit when pressed?
Paul

What is the ACTUAL voltage on the switches when the monitor is turned on?
--> 3.2V to 3.4V

Solder wires to the switch contacts and test touching them together to see if they operate that way
--> Yes , works that way , when i connect each wire to common it works.
