Addressable LED with bottom mounting

I'm looking for an addressable stand-alone LED, possibly in 2020 package, suitable for bottom-mounting. That is, I need to solder the LED on the bottom side of my PCB. The PCB will have a hole to allow the light to reach the top side.

I searched on the usual stores but I found nothing. Do they actually exist?

I don't know of any. The normal way to achieve what you intend to do is use side mounted ones (if they exist, and use plexiglas to make a corner. I have not even seen what you speak about in devices like BT headsets.

Side-emitting LED (I've used these in the past), but position it next to a 45-degree mirror to reflect back upwards?

I'm talking about this kind of package:

But I'm not able to find it for an addressable LED.
I cannot use a side-mounted one with a mirror: I need gazillions and they need to be mounted under a touch pad.

Sorry I don't get your hint. That package is not suitable for reverse-mounting, it's a standard WS2812 2020 LED for top mounting.

Neither is your lack of information on what you need help finding, because you can't do a simple search. Nothing like crabbing at the help. d*.

I think the OP was pretty clear on what he was looking for (albeit a rather unusual request). He simply (?!) wants an addressable SMT LED where the light is emitted from the bottom (ie, back down to the PCB).

Surprisingly, these do exist (per his link)—-he’s just not seeing an addressable version..

If OP didn't plan for needing a unicorn, are the pads even oriented correctly for an as-yet-unknown device, and would flipping the 2020 WS2812 with castellated vias not suffice? I suggest what I could use (and have).

No need to address led[0] with three 2010 3014 LEDs, R, G and B.

Not even an RGB version though is it.

if the hole is square you could mount them upside down, but to what purpose.
Also i somehow doubt you can get them manufactured like that.

Well yes, there is that. If we don't know what the goal is actually.
And without that information it is difficult to provide help and suggestions.

Let's assume that the OP did, and didn't find anything appropriate. No one else has. Maybe they don't exist.

So the question remains, what is the end goal ?
A small package SMT LED , how about a simple extra layer pcb ? Too costly maybe.
But what is the obstacle for simply facing them the other way on the other side ?

And a rainbow unicorn at that !

If you actually need to know my "goal" I can describe it: I have a large matrix of touch pads and I need to place an RGB LED at the center of each one.

I can't use non-addressable RGB LEDs due to the number on signals: instead of having just 1 wire I need 3*N tracks (and resistors), and I have hundreds of LEDs.

I can't "mis"-use a regular package mounted upside down since I need a large square hole (larger than the actual needs due to the milling process) and it would interfere with the small touch pad surface.

In the past I often used the reverse mounting LEDs like the one in the link I provided: they only need a tiny hole to be visible and they are suitable for p&p mounting process.

I did my searches and I'm not looking for unicorn.
Since I'm not perfect I could do my searches wrongly. So I just aksed here if anyone knowns such a component or for any reason they are not available on the market .

I'm not looking for a workaround, right now.
Thanks for all the answers.

The best I could find is the SK6812mini-e.
