Animatronic puppet, small remote access

Hi All,

I have grand dreams to make an animatronic puppet for onstage comedy shows.

I have watched a few of the Stan Winston videos where the they step through the process, using motors etc, However in the end they were controlled by a large RC controller.

I am looking to control the following functions (or automate)

1 - Can it be done in a small so the controller is easily concealed in a pocket?

open to ideas suggestions

Thank you all

Yes. Look at using RF24 for the radio link coupled to a small Arduino board and buttons or pots for control input. The largest part of the transmitter is likely to be the batteries.

This Simple nRF24L01+ Tutorial may be of interest.

I have built some hand-held controllers for model trains that are powered from a pair of AA alkaline cells.

With a little effort it could be made very much smaller.

I have also built a very small receiver for an OO Gauge model train

awesome info, thanks all
