I'm very new here and just getting my feet wet again after many years of doing something else.
I am involved in R&D for novel Aquaponics systems. My MAIN query to all of you, without current regard for the "complexity" of the recommended board(s), what would be the most realistic boards you might suggest I should review in greater depth?
My ultimate plan is to create a completely "automated" (obviously I expect a lot of human interaction to be required) system that can be GUI-based with full admin control of the systems.
At SOME point, I would love to build in AI and ML to further enhance the end-user experience.
Thanks, all. I hope this isn't a completely obtuse request. =)
Right now, the initial system is going to be comprised of a, primarily, NFT system with water volume, dispersed throughout the system, of about 450 gallons, or 1,700 lts. The current site is a VERY old barn with "good bones". At this time, the system will be multi-room for bio-security, weight distribution, and temp/humidity control, all on one floor. This WILL change - likely many, many times as we test theories and new ideas. Depending on the construction and stability of future sites, I can easily see this becoming many stories.
For now, I'm just looking for what I need, but with plenty of expansion already available. I hate when we want to try something new, but the hardware will take a few days to come in. Even a BIT of additional wiggle room is appreciated.
Does that, in my long-winded way, answer your question?
Not sure how many people here are familiar with aquaponics.
what features do you want the system to have? Please provide a detailed description.
Thanks.
You REALLY need to spend some time considering how you will ADMINISTER such a dispersed system! You will always have some part of the system that is failing or is intermittent. How will you identify that location or device/controller? How will your system know when you have replaced a defective unit? How will your system know to begin communicating with a new location? Will your system have nodes that have several devices physically connected to devices by serial communications? How will you monitor those devices?
So, you need a SYSTEMS approach.
I am assembling the scattered drawings and ideas into a coherent list with proposed phases. I'll fill this all in shortly. I genuinely appreciate your interest, questions, and feedback.
