I just went to the firewal setting on my computer and allowed it for both private and public access. I tried to run it as an adminstrator. But literally nothing happens when I double click on it to start the agent. Is the blue ring rolling for about 2 seconds then absolutely nothing.
I tried reinstall and install like 10 times now, go to the point that if I install it again a error message will pop up
I also tried running the Arduino_Create_Agent.exe in CMD as admin, nothing happens as well.
It might be shown at the right side of the Windows taskbar, or it might be in the the "hidden icons" area, which is revealed when you click the ^ icon on the taskbar.
The icon looks like an Arduino logo. Depending on your Windows theme, it might be difficult to see:
The appearance of this icon is the only result of starting Arduino Create Agent. Since Arduino Cloud uses an entirely web browser based user interface, starting Arduino Create Agent does not open a window as is the case with conventional desktop applications. So as long as you see that icon in the notification area, everything is working as expected and you can get back to working with Arduino Cloud.
Thanks. The screencast is indeed useful for understanding the problem. For the benefit of the other helpers here on the forum as well as other users who might find this topic during their searches for a solution to a similar problems, I'll provide a summary here of what is shown in the linked screencast:
@bigbankblippy started Arduino Create Agent 1.3.5 and verified that it is running and active:
However, when attempting to perform a "Setup Device > Arduino board" process on Arduino Cloud, it doesn't recognize that Arduino Cloud Agent is running:
Hello again @bigbankblippy. I did some research and I believe the significant factor in your system is that you are using Brave Browser. Due to the special privacy features of Brave, it is necessary to do some special configuration in order to allow Arduino Create Agent to communicate with the browser.
The instructions for configuring Brave are available here:
Please let me know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.
Thanks! Barely even realized this. I will try again, and check out the solution you provided me.
It was my friend who got me into using this stupid browser
and now I can’t stop using it lol.
This should have been my first thought, since I’ve had similar problems before with other types of software.
For any other people who might find this post in a Google search in the near future; Brave is great, but it’s incessant need to block absolutely anything from “spying” on you is a great feature.
But the consequences are issues like this.
I do think you should be able to continue to use Arduino Cloud in the Brave browser if you prefer that browser. It is just a bit more complicated than doing so with other browsers.
I know that one of the Arduino Cloud developers is a Brave browser user (they are actually the one who identified the need for that configuration shown in the Arduino Help Center article I linked above), so Brave does get a good amount of incidental user testing from them.
