I’ve been using the Arduino Cloud Editor for a few IoT projects, and while I love the convenience of working in the browser, I’ve recently run into a weird issue...
Whenever I update my sketch and hit “Save,” sometimes the changes just don’t stick, it either reverts to an older version or throws a syncing error. It’s like I’m saving my progress… but the cloud’s living in 1992.
Feels a bit like GTA San Andreas — when you finish a mission, but forget to save at the safe house… and boom, back to square one.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
Cleared browser cache
Switched from Chrome to Firefox
Logged out and back in
Still getting inconsistent results. Anyone else dealing with this? Is it a server sync delay or something on my end?
Would love any tips or workarounds — don’t want to lose another sketch after spending hours tweaking my code like it’s a CJ side quest.
Is it happening always or occasionally? Remember, you have a longish path from your screen to your sketch. I have WiFi6 at 1GB, and there are times when it behaves like it is still using a 1200 baud Hayes modem.
The next time it happens, do some ad hoc internet speed testing, I bet you will find it's your network.
By this, do you mean you press the Ctrl+S keyboard shortcut?
Do you have "Enable autosave" disabled in the Cloud Editor settings?
Please provide an approximate quantification of "sometimes".
What was the approximate date on which you first encountered the problem?
What is the approximate frequency at which you encounter the problem (e.g., "one out of five save attempts")?
Is that frequency relatively consistent over time, or does it fluctuate? For example, if you encountered the problem frequently three days ago, but not at all yesterday no matter how many times you 'hit "Save"', then are encountering it occasionally again today, that would be a "fluctuating" frequency.
By this, do you mean that any unsaved changes to the sketch disappear from the editor panel of the Cloud Editor page immediately after you 'hit "Save"'?
Do you see this error in a notification in the Cloud Editor* page, or somewhere else (e.g., in the browser console)?
Please provide the full and exact text of the error message.
It turned out @jamiesmith was just a spammer. This is a completely fake bug report that was only for the purpose of hiding a spam link (which I have removed).
