I am using the Arduino Giga r1 with the giga display shield and motor shield rev3 and find that the STM32H747XIH6 is getting hot 120 degrees after a few seconds, I disconnected both shields but still find the STM32H747XIH6 getting high temperatures is this permanently damaged. Is it bad to use the giga r1 simultaneously with the giga display shield and motor shield rev3 at the same time, I am also finding the main IC on the motor shield rev3 gets hot even though I'm only applying 8V and max 1.5A to it and I have already broke a giga r1 with this configuration the 3v3 regulator became damaged so only outputted 0.1V i just want to know if its possible to use both these shields together and does the external supply limits change when I use them together and what could be causing these two IC's to get hot.
update my 3v3 on my new giga r1 is now reading 0.1V so is also broken anyone know the reason for this
Did you look at the product page for that shield,
It states Compatibility: UNO
No other board is listed.
Indeed, plugging in a 5V shield into a 3.3V board is probably not going to go well...
@bassoon02 , I am also a little curious how you managed to connect both at the same time since the design of the Giga display shield precludes both shields from being stacked? I hope that the display shield is not damaged? These are not cheap.
Incidentally, I note from the compatibility tab on the linked motor shield product page, that it lists the UNO R2 WiFi and UNO Q, but not the UNO R4 Minima or WiFi? I expect that the output from the sense pins to A0/A1via the OP amps must not exceed 3.3V to make it compatible with the UNO Q? However, the Renesas RA4M1 on the R4 series is 5V tolerant, so is this because of the weak pull-ups on the R4? Or some other reason?
On the Giga R1 wifi compatible boards it is listed (https://docs.arduino.cc/hardware/giga-r1-wifi/#compatibility).The Display essentially goes on the back and the motor shield goes on top normally (as it would on an uno)
