Arduino Giga USB-C and an External Power Supply

Hi,

When I am ready to disconnect the Arduino Giga from my PC, I was wondering if I can power it via the USB-C port using an external power supply.

These web pages mention the Giga's USB-C but do not mention power:
https://docs.arduino.cc/hardware/giga-r1-wifi/#tech-specs
USB-C Programming Port / HID

https://docs.arduino.cc/resources/datasheets/ABX00063-datasheet.pdf
USB Peripheral USB-C
Programming Port
HID

This web page DOES mention power for the Giga:
https://docs.arduino.cc/tutorials/giga-r1-wifi/giga-usb/
USB-C - for powering, programming & HID communication

This is a general Arduino Board page that mentions power:
https://docs.arduino.cc/learn/electronics/power-pins/

I looked at the "Power Tree" section on this page but I did not completely understand it:
https://docs.arduino.cc/resources/datasheets/ABX00063-datasheet.pdf

Question: Is this a good example of what to use to power the Giga via USB-C?

Thanks,
Bill

After programming your board, you can power it with a good quality 5VDC output adapter via USB-C (that is, replacing the power from your PC).

Hi Dozie,

Thanks for the confirmation.

When your pubs people run out of things to do, they might update the "do not mention power" web pages, that O referenced above, to mention power "with a good quality 5VDC output adapter via USB-C".

If all of the web pages had mentioned "power" I wouldn't have asked the question :grinning:

Thanks,
Bill
