Arduino PC connection

I needed some help to understand why my pc doesn't see arduino anymore, until a week ago it saw it and now nothing, the arduino makes the green led on light and an orange light, I tried changing cable, computer and the arduino is original, I bought it together with a kit on amazon from the official arduino store.

The thing is, it seems strange to me that until recently it was working and now it is not.

I am therefore asking if someone can kindly give me a hand.

Why is that strange?

  • Please confirm, in the IDE, what do you see for available ports ?

  • Does a 2nd Arduino behave the same ?

  • In the IDE I can't find any ports, the PC doesn't see the arduino, as if it wasn't connected to it, in the ide I only see the devices associated with the PC via Bluetooth, if I disconnect them then I no longer have any ports available in the IDE.
  • I apologise for the misunderstanding, I don't have a second arduino.

Hi @2dfbndh. Please add a reply here on this forum thread to tell us which Arduino board you are using.

Please be as specific as possible, as some Arduino boards with similar names have significant differences and the forum helpers can only provide effective assistance if we are aware of which one is being used.

If you aren't sure how to describe which board you are using, you can provide the link to the online product listing you bought the board from and we'll proceed based on the information found there.

It's strange because now the arduino doesn't work anymore and I don't understand the problem, up to a week ago it worked.

Now the PC doesn't even let me select ports anymore, whereas when I had paired Bluetooth devices I could see those but not arduino.

  • Since you tried a new USB cable and you tried a different computer, suggest you borrow a new Arduino from a friend and try it.
    Always best to have a spare.

  • Things point to a damaged Arduino, maybe from a static discharge.

  • It’s great using an Arduino UNO; if money is an issue, Arduino Pro Minis are inexpensive, you would need one USB FTDI programmer.
    Arduino NANOs are another option.

FTDI plugged into Pro Mini, both are ≈ $5.00

I guess we live in different worlds, to me it's not strange at all. It's how most faults manifests themselves, working, working, working, not working.

Because the computer cannot "see" the Arduino, it's the supposed behavior.

In total: We're sorry that it broke, hope you get a replacement soon so you can create and have fun!
