Arduino + Pi Connection

I am working on a project where we are using an arduinos w/WiFi shields as sensors. We are trying to relay the sensor information to a raspberry pi that is acting as our network controller (and running on Linux). So far our best option seems to be to use ssh to take control of the pi's command line (we only need to send 1 bit of information). We are using unos and just wanted to know if anyone has any advice on sending information from an arduino over a wireless network and more specifically if it can be recognized by a Linux device.

Thank you in advance!

Does your RPi have WiFi ?

If the RPi runs a server you could program the Arduinos to make calls to the server at intervals to send data to it.

The Python Bottle web framework is easy to use if you are unfamiliar with servers.
