Okay, so I got an Arduino Uno. And I wanted to test it out. I went to Arduino IDE and went to examples and selected "Blink". I then clicked upload and I got the following error:
avrdude: ser_open(): can't open device "\.\COM1": The system cannot find the file specified.

You need to select the serial port of your Uno from the Tools > Port menu. If it's not on there or if it's grayed out then you may need to install the driver for the Uno.
Look at the board - does the little chip next to the USB connector say Atmega16U2 on it, or something else? FT232? CH430G?
sir, iam using arduino Uno, the problem is that, it is showing onlu one port , COM1, and boards arduino/genuino Uno. ian dont know does it means. i cant find COM1 in in my system. when i plugged srduino , in device manager it is showing COM4, or COM6 or 7. but here in software I have only one option COM1 . what should i do?

Post a picture of both sides of the board please (decent quality).
Are you saying you can see the ports COM 4,6, and 7 in device manager ?
Which one disappears when you unplug the UNO as that is the one you should select in the IDE !

Does the port selection in the IDE menu now allow you to pick another port (e.g. COM7)? COM1 is usually (in my systems at least) not the Arduino.

OK so device manager now shows the UNO correctly on a com port yes ??
If thats correct then you should try the loopback test mentioned HERE
And report back your findings.
