launch 4j an error occurred while starting the application
i get this message when i try to start arduino ide any ideas on how to solve the problem

Please, try using arduino_debug.exe
Best is if you use the command prompt, change directory to the IDE one (something like "cd c:\program files (x86)\Arduino", and then type arduino_debug.exe
Then please copy and paste the output here
As an alternative, try downloading the latest windows nightly build from http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software#nightly We've recently fixed a couple of things

downloaded nightly builds,clicked on arduino and got the same error message,so i gave up and went back to my start page,the 10 mins later arduino ide 1.6.1 popped up,so i am getting somewhere
could i leave ide running in background.also 2 messages on ide

put your main code hear to run repeatedly.

I'm not sure I caught that: is the IDE working fine then?
About those messages, this a a default empty sketch you can use and edit to start working on your sketch
ide starts after 10 min delay but at least it starts thanks for help
what if you import a sketch do you have to delete default promt
