I am wondering if this circuit is wired correctly and if I need any resistors or capacitors or anything to make sure it will work properly and safely. I also don't know what kind of battery to use. Here is a picture of the circuit and a Fritzing file. Any help would be appreciated.
Sorry I cannot tell from that picture I do not have some of the parts in your picture. Please post an Annotated schematic, showing all connections, power, ground, power sources etc. Frizzing is a wiring diagram not a schematic.
Thank you. Here is the annotated schematic. I am also using 22 guage wire.
Your +5V supply needs to be wired to the Arduino 5V, not Vin. Vin takes 6-9V and regulates it down to 5V. If you have 5V, you supply it directly to the 5V pin.
You also should have a fly-back diode across your motor so you don't get spikes when you turn it off.
As for battery size, it depends on how many LEDs you plan on having on at one time plus how much current your motor draws plus how much current your amplifiers draw.
Thank you for your help, how does this look? Can I just use a multimeter to find out the current for everything? I can't find data sheets for all the components.
You still have your +5V supply tied to Vin
I thought that the 5V pin was providing 5v for other components. Is it different when powering those components with an external battery?
