ATmega328P U burning bootloader

Hi, I would like to burn a bootloader on my ATmega328P. I have connected everything according to this picture:


but I keep getting an error:

There is a loose or bad connection on the braedboard.
Try taking the 328P out of the IC socket and plugging it directly into the breadboard

Yeah, I thought of that later, too. The problem was that the pins on the socket were too short to connect reliably to the board.

So does it now work?
