Audio recording and playing using Due

i have an arduino due and i've been struggling to do a project where i could record a speech using a microphone, store it in an SD card connected to the arduino, then plying the speech back from the SD card. i've tried the straightforward way of connecting the mic to an analog input and then saving the value in a text file in the SD card and then feeding the samples from there through the DAC pin into an 8 ohm speaker and it obviously didn't work.
if you have any advice, please help me. i'm a beginner at these stuff.
thank you

What is this way then.

Directly into an 8 ohm speaker? In which case you have almost certainly damaged the Due. The load should be no more than about 1K on this pin.
