Bipolar Stepper Motor

Dear All,

I am very new in the field of electrical engineering. i have been trying to connect/control a bipolar stepper motor for last one month.

My stepper motor is: 3327_0 - 42STH38 NEMA-17 Bipolar Stepper with 26.85:1 Gearbox

My driver is : A4988 Stepper Motor Driver Carrier

and i have a arduino Uno.

Did anybody has any luck with this combination? i contacted with both companies and both said that everything were fine.

Can anybody send the wiring and arduino code that really works. Alternatively, can anybody know whether there is any third party(people) who can connect/control this for me ( i will be happy to pay for that) if i will send all of them.

Thanks,
Jahid

Look at the Pololu site: Pololu - Minimal wiring diagram for connecting a microcontroller to an A4988 stepper motor driver carrier (full-step mode).

The coil resistance of that stepper is very low (1.7 ohms) so you will have to make certain that the winding current is properly set. Otherwise the driver will probably overheat and shut down.

Since the Pololu A4988 driver can only handle about 1 ampere per winding without extra cooling, you should set it to that value. Follow the directions on the Pololu product page CAREFULLY.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I have tried all possible ways imcluding controlling the current ( i beleive). I know i may miss a very simple yet tricky step.

Regards,
Jahid

The simple test code in this Demo should work with the wiring arrangements on the Pololu A4988 page.

If it does not then post a photo of a carefully drawn diagram showing EXACTLY how you have everything connected and give full details of how the motor and the Arduino are powered.
