Camera shutter release - Bluetooth X Radiotrigger

Hi Everyone, Early days for me just starting this project but I thought I'd ask for general tips before getting stuck in just incase someone already has dome something similar!

I currently use Yongnuo RF-603 II radio triggers to fire off my camera's shutter from a distance greater than bluetooth range. These triggers have a standard 2.5mm port and use a 2-stage button for focus and shutter release. I just plug the receiver directly into my current camera, press the button on the transmitter and the camera focuses and fires the shutter. Holding down the button takes multiple photos. Perfect!

Unfortunately, my new camera, Sony a7v, does not have a 2.5mm port, or anything other than USB-C ... and I am told there is no way to trigger shutter release through USB-C...! Bummer.

So what I'm planning to do is use my radio triggers as is, wire in a 2.5mm female port into Arduino R4 wifi and plug in the receiver, then use the BLE to trigger the camera to focus and fire the shutter when I press the button on the transmitter. I want to use the 2.5mm port so I can also plug in a wired shutter release or even laser triggers.

Any help with this would be massively appreciated!

Does the Sony offer BLE control and do you have the full documentation ?

Yes Sony uses BLE. I don't have the full documentation and as far as I can tell they don't provide it. However the bluetooth protocols must be quite universal as there are many cheap bluetooth triggers that work with most cameras. I suspect the pairing process may be the most complex part. This video is quite good

Yes For the Sony A7 V, the Bluetooth connection used for taking pictures is Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and not the classic Bluetooth Camera Control Profile (CCP) which is what cheap remote use.

Nice video
I guess you are all set with this
