Hello, I am very new to Arduino. Thank you for your help. Recently, I completed the first few steps in the Arduino Starter Kit booklet. I've run into issues on page 16 - installing the drivers.
The installation did not automatically start. I followed the steps; however, cannot find the exact drivers folder after clicking browse in Device Manager. It says to navigate to drivers in lieu of default FTDI USB Drivers. I have checked where I installed Arduino: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Programs\Arduino IDE and C:\Users\USERNAME\OneDrive\Documents\Arduino and Program Files (x86) as is shown here: Install Arduino driver on Windows 10 - YouTube. Also tried going to the search bar and typing Folders: drivers to no avail. These paths don't contain drivers.
I found a drivers folder :C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Arduino15\packages\arduino\hardware\avr\1.8.6\drivers which contains the FTDI USB Drivers folders. Is this the correct place to install? It doesn't quite match what the booklet states.
I tried uninstalling Arduino and re-installing but am having the same problem wherein I cannot find a drivers folder.
Additional details:
In device manager, to browse where to install drivers here is the default on my computer which doesn't match booklet: C:\Users\USERNAME\OneDrive\Documents
If it's helpful, I am on Windows 11. Can you please assist?
Hi @pomme_frites22. Unlike Arduino IDE 1.x, the Arduino IDE 2.x installation does not include drivers. I see the outdated information in my Arduino Starter Kit book (but on the other hand I got it before Arduino IDE 2.x existed so that is to be expected).
I will check with the people in charge of the to make sure the instructions in the "Projects Book" are updated to be correct for Arduino IDE 2.x users.
The drivers are still available, just in a different place:
I am surprised that you would find the need to install these drivers though. Arduino IDE automatically installs the drivers the first time you run it after a fresh installation.
Do you see a port for the Arduino Uno when you open the Tools > Port menu in Arduino IDE after connecting the board to your computer with the USB cable?
I have bought the keyestudio Robot CAR V2.0 Kit
Following the first simple project (led blinking), I had to install Arduino IDE + drivers using the same approach as you mentionned here above to pommes_frites22.
However when indicating the driver folder locaiton, I could not install it. I checked Arduino IDE and I could not see that a port was open in the Tools tab. I mean the port tab is "grayed" as if it is unable. How could I solve this ? Thanks a lot for your help.
Please provide a detailed description of what you mean by this. If you encountered any error or warning messages while attempting the installation, please post the full and exact text of the message.
Moreover when clicking on Tool tab on Arduino IDE, I see that the Port option is greyed i.e I cannot select any Port option or click on the port arrow/button. Unfortunately it is difficult to take a printscreen if this explantion
