Cheap OLED displays (SSD1116) - any libraries available?

Hi everyone,

I got two cheap 128x64 OLED displays as part of a kit of random sensors and parts supported by Arduino. One display is SPI and the other i2c.

The chip is supposed to be a SSD1116. I've never heard of this chip or any library that supports it, and the only search results are to buy similar cheap displays online. Has anyone worked with these before or knows which library might support them?

I've tried other libraries e.g. the adafruit ssd1306 one and they do turn on but the image is only displayed in the top few rows of pixels of the screen, the rest is static.

Since they seem to be sold quite widely on cheap websites it must be possible to do something with them, right? I just wanted to give it a try before discarding them. Any suggestions welcome, feel free to really dumb it down.

Cheers,
E

Hi @latched2023 ,

The libarary u8g2 supports the SSD1116 conntroller + many more.

HTH?

I can control possibly same OLED by using U8g2 with the contructor
U8G2_SH1106_128X64_NONAME_F_HW_I2C u8g2(U8G2_R0, /* reset=*/ U8X8_PIN_NONE);
