The older I get, the more mortal I feel.
Here is a DIY fume hood used when making PCBs.
Fumes from the: developing, etching, tinning processes are vented out of a window that has a removable screen.
For extra light I place a portable stick-up LED lamp (using double sided tape) on the inside top cover.
Since the cutout opening starts 1 1/2" above the floor, splashes are retained in the box.

Do you have a fiber glass dust collector for when you drill holes? That dust can be pretty nasty too.

Actually, I do use an air filter when drilling.
