Hi,
I am trying to use Arduino Web IDE on my Chromebook (OS Version 96.0.4664.111). I am using Chrome browser, have installed Create App/Plugin. I can select my board (Nano) but cannot see any possibility to chose a port. I have enabled "FT232R USB UART" in the Chrome USB device settings. In the editor window I can see on the top section besides the upload "right arrow" that the connection to the Nano board is "red crossed" for no connection.
I would be great, if someone could help me, to get this running.
Thanks, Dirk
Last year, the Arduino team had this to say:
When Google released the latest version of Chrome OS, v.85, there was an issue making Arduino Chrome App unable to detect some boards.
We have since then updated Chrome App to temporarily solve this issue, while waiting for Google to fix the OS version, or release the next version.
If you update your Arduino Chrome App to the latest version 1.0.15.12, your Chromebook should be able to detect your boards again.
Thanks for your reply! Unfortunately Arduino Create App is latest available from app store 1.1.0.2, but there is no connection via USB cable to the Nano board.
I do not know if ChromeDuino is an option for you, but their store writeup states:
- Uploads sketches directly over USB to your Arduino
I can remember years ago trying to do serial stuff on Android OTG ... kind of broke me from Android on anything but my cellphone.
Thanks, I hope, someone has a good idea to get web ide running on my fairly new Chromebook.
I have deleted your other cross-post @DSmega.
Cross-posting is against the rules of the forum. The reason is that duplicate posts can waste the time of the people trying to help. Someone might spend 15 minutes (or more) writing a detailed answer on this topic, without knowing that someone else already did the same in the other topic.
Repeated cross-posting will result in a suspension from the forum.
In the future, please take some time to pick the forum board that best suits the topic of your question and then only post once to that forum board. This is basic forum etiquette, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide you will find at the top of every forum category. It contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Thanks and sorry for cross posting. After sending my first post, I noticed the link "post problems here" and I did it, thinking, that now I gave addressed my question under the correct topic. As said, sorry, will not happen again. Thanks for sharing the link for how to publish posts to the forum most fair and efficient.
No worries.
I saw that the other one was in the more appropriate "Chrome App" forum category, so I moved this topic there for you at the same time. That will ensure the folks who are most knowledgeable on this subject matter will see it.
