I'm new to this forum but having building cnc machines for over 20 years. I just recently built a laser engraver using an Ardunio Uno controler. I am driving steppers via DM542 drivers. The issue I'm having is I can't get my HP laptop running GRBL Guru or LightBurn to work. I have successfuly gotten both programs to work with a desktop PC. I have changed the advanced power settings for the USB ports on the laptop running windows 10 to be disabled and made sure I have the Arduino driver installed as well. Still no luck. The laptop is seeing and connecting to the Uno but it will not move the motors. Has anyone else had this issue? If so have you solved it?
Welcome, that sounds like a bummer. We would like to help you but we need more information such as what hardware devices are involved and post links to technical information on them. What is the Arduino driver? Posting a schematic as it is wired, not a frizzy picture would help a lot.,
That looks like a Pc problem, not an Arduino issue.
Downloading Grbl.h into an UNO having a Grbl compatible CNC shield the physical handling of the steppers would work.
What does Grbl Guru do? You normally don't write Grbl commands from the keyboard. Usually the Grbl code is generated by CAD. What You would need is a Grbl transmitter sending the Grbl commands to the hardware.
Problem solved. Not sure what is going on but everything works fine when I select Ardunio Mega as the board in the GRBLGURU software. Must be a glitch in the version I was using. I updated to a newer version and everything works fine now.
