Controlling 4 servos via arduino and 1 dc motor via R3 motor shield

I am planning to buy an arduino with the R3 motor shield. From my research it seems that some pins get disable when using a shield. My plan is to use the arduino to control 4 servos, and the motor shield to control 1 dc motor. I just wanted to check that this was possible before I bought it.

Yes that is fine, you can run a servo of any pin.

However, you might need an external power supply for all those servos, they do tend to take a lot of current.

Oh yes, I am buying an external power supply. They will draw up to 40A during stall. Thanks for the confirmation.
