Hi. I am technician in home electronics but I don’t know anything about ardinos. I need help to figure out how to control 7 relays with one timer. One day one I need to activate realy one for one minute only day two activate relay two for-one minute. Day three active relay three for one minute only and so on.
What is the least expensive way to do it. Thank you.
Basically I am trying to build a hay feeder for seven days. Hay bale 1 will be dropped by relay one on day one and hay bale no. Seven will be dropped by relay seven on day seven.
Next week it restarts from day one.
I wish there was a stand alone timer with seven relays to do this job.
To what precision do you need to align the times? Must it occur at, example, 08:31 each day? A different time each day? Or just somewhere around 8:30, plus or minus doesn't matter
I moved your topic to an appropriate forum category @amigujar.
In the future, please take some time to pick the forum category that best suits the subject of your topic. There is an "About the _____ category" topic at the top of each category that explains its purpose.
This is an important part of responsible forum usage, as explained in the "How to get the best out of this forum" guide. The guide contains a lot of other useful information. Please read it.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Thank you for your reply.
It doesn’t really matter but once a day but it could be same time every day.
Sure and thank you.
Could be same time every day.but it doesn’t really matter.
So this project only needs to run for a short time before it dies. Is that what you mean?
If it doesn't matter, then look at this,
What you want to do, is count down for a time period, then enable an output for a period, then move on to the next one.
The millis() information is just a start, but come back with questions.
Yep that’s true. All I need is the realy to be activated for few seconds and then die down.
Will the relay need to be used a second or third time, or it one time then can go up in smoke?
Ok I will edit my first post to give full details. Basically I am trying to build a hay feeder. I want to drop hay bale one on first day hay bale two on second……and hay bale 7 on seventh day and then restart the next week.
Yes ever week.
No! Put the new information right here on your next post.
DO you still believe by using the cheapest components you will be able to operate more than one week?
I am not sure. Cheap doesn’t mean cutting every corner but it mean what is necessary only.
Thank you. I will look into that. Lots if reading for sure.
What sort of home electronics work do you do ?
Hi @amigujar ,
Welcome to the forum..
Need to automate some relays..
It's 8 relays with an embedded ESP32..
Which has wifi and rtc, could be nice and needed..
Do have to do some coding, but this unit should be compatible with Arduino..
You know, could accomplish this with a multi zone sprinkler controller, no coding necessary..
but if you do want to make it all your self, you came to the right forum..
good luck.. ~q
I had a business where I fixed all kind of stuff like televisions stereos remote control toys whatever was brought to my shop I fixed it.
What is involved in dropping a hay bale?
Thank you.
