DC Jack Pinout

Hey everyone,

I'm currently building a system with Arduino to control a 12V LED strip, which I'm powering using a 12V power supply via a DC jack, as shown below:

I'm wondering which of the legs correspond to GND and which correspond to +12V. Why are there three outputs and not just two?

Use your multimeter to determine which leg is which

If you are

currently building a system with Arduino to control a 12V LED strip,

then you really should have one. A cheap multimeter from Ebay is all you need

Examine the connector carefully. The tab on the end is the centre pin which is positive. The middle one is the wiper which contacts the negative outer sleeve.
