I hooked up my Arduino to a DFPlayer Mini (chipset MH2024K-24SS), with the DFPlayer powered directly by a 5V power supply. It is working pretty well in general, but when looping a wav or mp3 file, there is an audible gap of a few ms between repetitions rather than a seamless loop. The red led also goes off during this brief interval.
Any idea what could be causing this?
The audio files themselves are made to be played in a loop and contain no leading/trailing silence. On PC, they play perfectly when looping.
That sounds like the behavior of one of the various knockoffs of the DFPlayer. Having worked with both the real units and a couple of knockoffs, I've found looping to be seamless on the real DFPlayers but not always so on the knockoffs. Spend the extra few dollars and get yourself the real thing from a reputable seller like DigiKey.

Thanks, I will buy a DFPlayer with this chip instead. My current one came from AliExpress, so indeed probably an inferior knockoff.
Or the Arduino Store
Sold Out?? Dangit.
That's one reason why I recommended DigiKey. They have 604 in stock at the moment.
