DFPlayer Mini Module only goes click, click, click, etc.
I’ve set up a DFPlayer Mini Module as a standalone; speaker and 5VDC power only. The MP3 is in folder 01 and the MP3 is titled 001diesel.mp3. All I get is click, click, etc. the DFPlayer Mini Module’s LED in only momentarily and correspond to the clicks. I’ve set up a DFPlayer Mini Module as a standalone; speaker and 5VDC power only. Please provide pictures of your project, along with your code. Schematics are helpful too if you have them.

I'm just using the FDPlayer Mini as a standalone, no arduino yet. Arduino is next. 5VDC, ground and two speaker wires

Check this out:

I'd previously checked it out, but I went over it again. this is the one I've been following. The first part this site uses just the DFPlayer Mini as a standalone.

His works, mine doesn't. He has only five wires; VCC, ground, two speakers and one to touch ground to pins IO-1 and IO-2, aka volume control

  • Try a different mp3 from a different source
  • Make sure your card is properly formatted
  • Post pictures of your setup so we can see if you've made any mistakes
  • Try the setup in the video I posted

I got it to play in the basic mode: VCC, grd, and two speaker wires. I had to touch either ADKEY 1 or 2 to GRD and then it'll play. Sometimes it stops after one MP3 and sometimes is continues to play it over and over again. Both the IO pins works as advertised, raising lowering the volume. I need to get a better speaker; audio greeting cards have better speakers. Any thoughts on why sometimes it repeats and others it doesn't?

Because you need to hook up buttons so the pins are properly high or low instead of just floating.

A couple 10K resistors does the trick. Now that's it works, its on to hooking up a Nano. Thanks

A picture of your final setup will help other learn in the future.

a picture of my mess isn't going to help anyone, but here it is
