Do you like the new forum?

two aspects to this:

1/ optimize "workflows". Some of us do spend a fair amount of personal time answering questions and contributing to making the forum a place to go to get answers, so taking those needs into consideration - even if they do not represent the bulk of the usage - would be a nice touch.

2/ I shared some screen grabs that are probably more representative of what other do, but the reason I've a 32 inch monitor and I use a full screen mode is because my eyesight is not what it used to be. I go to the max magnification of the page and I feel the real estate could be better used when answering posts.

Sure, so having a bit of flexibility in how the layout is configured and what you see could go a long way.

But probably (only my personal opinion here) , being it NOT a forum script, it was originally developed just for asocial-networks, and cause 90% of asocial-users are using smartphones (so-called "smombie" peoples ), it was originally intended with only that use in mind, and the remaining 10% of users that use PCs can "shut up and joyfully go to hell" if they don't like it (as we say here ).

So, there are 2 main errors, here ... first one is that the maintainers of this forum have choosen a script that is obviously NOT made for forums, without made a decent trial period of time before (and asking BEFORE to users what they think about it) ... and second one is from the developers of the script that distributed an asocial-network script saying that is good for forums, and don't care about develope a correct version for PC users (independently from the fact that this is done cause PC users are not the main interest, for lack of knowledge about forum scripts, or just from lazyness, this is not the main problem).

Also cause a lot of other places have 2 independent layouts, PC and mobile, that happily convives, so is not impossible to do, just they don't want to do it.

Just my humble opinion.

I have a 32 inch and have no issues with 75% in CHROME or FF for ALL my web work.
Less wasted space and perfect for me.

Some of these complaints are valid but a lot seem to be just gripes and quibbles.

Totally agree with you there. I would be overjoyed if i could have the thread on the left and the composer window on the right, so it could be bigger and i could see more of the thread at the same time.

And I would be unhappy if the window were arranged like that because of the way I like to use my screen, but each to his own

So a box you can tick in forum settings, selecting either a horizontal or vertical split, would make use both happy enough.

If such an option were available, had been thoroughly tested and worked fully as expected then I agree, but how likely is that to happen ?

Things like that seem to work just fine in the IDE, you know 'options' besides there are formatting option, like dark-theme' and things like that already, time to expand !!

The IDE is under the control of Arduino.
The forum software is NOT !
You may want to take ideas like that to the discourse forum to see if there is a plugin available etc.

It would be either layout preference or if your window gets too wide and there is plenty of white space. So you would not see it…

That's your browser.

Concur.
Could also be your internet speed and even hardware.

Jealous?

Screen real estate is not an issue here.

This setup good for traders on steroids  not for daily use - it's not an ergonomic position for the neck.

I prefer virtual spaces on one single monitor (although I've 2 side by side in one of my setup)

WOW!
I have 2 and wish I had room for 3, but SIX!?!

have you tried opening / spreading a forum window across all the 6 screens ? would be fun to see all the lost space

Confession- It's two PC's. The bottom row is my daily use PC, and the upper row is my video editing PC. Yes, ergonomically the top row is a pain in the neck, but when a video render will take hours, I start it and work on the lower row while it finishes.

The two computers share a NAS drive for exchanging files. I use a single mouse and keyboard with Synergy, a free KVM program.

I got into this many screens accidentally. I have always had two screens and when a third screen was given to me and I had another video card in my closet, I plugged it in.

I built the second PC for day-to-day use because the video editing took all of the RAM and day to day stuff ground to a crawl.

(I don't drink coffee. Diet Pepsi is my drug of choice).

So it's not a Nano in there doing all the work? I am so disappointed!
