Downloading index: package_adafruit_index.json Error? <<SOLVED >>

It has compiled without any problems using V2.3.3 several times this morning. Now it will not compile. I see a message Downloading index: package_adafruit_index.json. I have waited over 30 minutes, and the message remains without compiling!!!

Is this a bug?

Restart the IDE. I also had a never-ending library download my first start of 2.3.3. Works well after being "restarted." : )

I have restarted the IDE several times and even restarted machine also

Remove the URL from Preferences?

OK, have removed the URL without sucess. Yes I rebootd the IDE.

Odd that you would still see " Downloading index: package_adafruit_index.json"

Should I reload the URL?

Try uninstalling the Adafruit library or libraries (I do not know which one is causing it). Maybe Adafruit is down?

I do not know what happened but when I turned on my machine this morning everything works great. it compiles and uploads without any problems.

Hi all, I got a similar issue. I'm using
Version: 2.3.3
Date: 2024-09-25T09:41:18.242Z
CLI Version: 1.0.4

initially I got an error loading the library listed in the preferences.
After removing this the issue came back but this time it lists

Downloading index: package_index.tar.bz2

The progress bar is stuck half way and does not finish and I'm also not able to search for any library in the manager.
Any ideas as to the cause?

I did restart the arduino IDE

I have the same problem, constant "Downloading index: package_esp8266com_index.json".

and yes i have restarted numerous times.

I just uploaded a sketch just fine but now I am getting the Downloading index: package_adafruit_index.json message again and does not compile.

I assume the connection to Adafruit is bad. Enter the IDE Library Manager, type "adafruit" and click "remove" for any Adafruit library you have. Maybe Adafruit has something not up-to-date on their system and your anti-malware is dropping the connection (specifically to Adafruit).

I can not find the adafruit library.

Do all Adafruit libraries in the Library Manager have an "INSTALL" button and not a "REMOVE" button?

I have installed V2.3.3 and reinstalled 1.8.16. And the Downloading index: package_adafruit_index.json is not come yet.

I can not find the PinChangeInterrupt.h library. Does any one know where it is at?

I am convinced the bug is in V2.3.3. V1.8.16 does not have this problem.
