Hi, I can't seam to add an Arduino esp32 device to the IoT of Things because I need to download the latest software which im struggling with big time.
I am new to all this amazing engineering, ive managed to download the Arduino ide and have a play about and come across the Arduino cloud. ive tried the trouble shooting and the same out come I think ive uninstalled the app and deleted it but with no joy.
Many Thanks Tom.
Hi @tme86.
Did you ever successfully install Arduino Create Agent before, or is this your first time trying to install it? I am asking because there was a recent change in the location where Arduino Create Agent is installed and so people who installed it before might need to follow a certain procedure to uninstall the old version before the installation of the new version is effective.
Which web browser are you using (e.g., "Safari", "Chrome")?
Im really new to this, and downloaded the Arduino Create Agent and a new up date came out for macOS, I updated and it said it was blocking a download, I accepted it moved the folder over to applications. I try to add a device eg Arduino NANO ESP32 and it says I need to upload the latest version. im using safari and dont have the best computer skills unfortunately. I go through the same cycle and it asks me to replace a file with the same name I agree, and I get the prompt is running in the background?
Thanks Again
Do you see the Arduino Create Agent icon in the macOS menu bar at the top of your screen?:
The color of the icon on your computer might be different than in the graphic above, but it will look like an Arduino logo.
yes this where I get to. it will down load over an an over, I move it in applications it says to re place, but it can't because its still running, I quit it and it goes from the task bar. I think I delete the whole app and try again but I get to the same point,
Thanks for the clarification. This problem may be caused by certain security restrictions of the Safari web browser blocking the communication between Arduino Cloud and Arduino Create Agent.
I'll provide instructions you can follow to configure Arduino Create Agent to allow use of Arduino Cloud in the Safari browser:
- If it is not already running, start Arduino Create Agent.
ⓘ If you see an Arduino Create Agent icon on the macOS menu bar then it is running. - Control-click on the Arduino Create Agent icon on the macOS "menu bar".
A menu will open. - Select "Generate and Install HTTPS certificates" from the menu 1.
A "You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings" dialog will open. - Enter your macOS user password in the "You are making changes to your Certificate Trust Settings" dialog.
- Click the "Update Settings" button.
After doing that, try creating the ESP32 device once again, just as you did before. This time Arduino Cloud should be able to recognize that Arduino Create Agent is already installed and up to date and be able to create the device.
Please let me know if you have any questions or problems while following those instructions.
1. "If your board is not detected by Arduino Web Editor". Arduino Help Center
I think that seems to have done the trick, Thanks for you time.
You are welcome. I'm glad it is working now.
