I'm trying to understand just what commands are used to take photos with the ESP32-cam and eventually combine it with SD storage.
The code (modified from another application) below when calling the function "takepic" should take a photo every 6 sec combined with the LED flash. However, it appears that the function only works once.
Is the LED flash automatically operated when a photo is taken?
Do you have to put the ESP32-cam into deep sleep and start afresh every time for repeated photos?

Share your complete code of ESP32 cam as I am unable to find this function: esp_camera_fb_get() . This function is used in takepic() function.
The above is my complete code.
A lot of the code used was from
I find it is quite difficult to fathom out information regarding this topic.
My code causes the camera to operate with flash but only once and not repeated every 6 seconds.
For further camera action I need to get the esp32-cam to go into deep sleep and then awaken. This causes the complete code to be called again from the start.
I cannot understand why repeated camera operation cannot occur so I must be missing some fundamental code.
Has anyone got any clues?

Gaggymoon:
However, it appears that the function only works once.
Does it only work once, or is it over-writing each photo in the same place so that you only get the most recent photo.
Do you have an example program that successfully takes multiple pictures?
I have an ESP32-cam but I have only used it briefly to send a live video to a tablet.

I originally tried the code as per
This works to take a photo and save it to SD card and then goes into deep sleep. When awakened, it takes another photo and does not over ride the previous one. It has to load all code including setup every time.
My simple program was a work in progress that I am using to test commands used for taking photos without starting from the program start and setup code that happens after a deep sleep wake up.
I don't really want the camera to start from deep sleep every time a photo is taken.

This seems to be the take-photo code from your link

To my mind you have made things unnecessarily complicated. I suggest you copy all of the code that starts at
// Take Picture with Camera
into your takePic() function and just omit the lines
delay(2000);
Serial.println("Going to sleep now");
delay(2000);
esp_deep_sleep_start();
Serial.println("This will never be printed");
Then move your delay(6000); into your loop() function
NOTE: that I have not tested any of this and I won't have time to do so today.

Thanks Robin2, tried your suggestions but it still only takes one photo and doesn't do a repeat photo every 6 sec.
Note that I had to comment out #include "dl_lib.h" as it doesn't compile unless this is done.
Also I had to copy the line camera_fb_t * fb = NULL; into my takepic function.
Maybe when you get some time you might find a solution. In the meantime I will persevere with it.
Hi
Please try the attached code, it takes a picture every 60sec (parameter that can be changed) and writes jpeg file to microSD with format pic_YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.jpg
Note it requires wifi to sync time from NTP server at startup
