I'm wanting t run a DFPlayer from my ESP32.
I don't want or need to use speakers, but I do need to use a 3.5mm stereo.
Can I simply wire the earphone socket into the speaker pins of the DFPlayer and ground?
(I'm guessing it's much more complicated than that.)
Possibly/probably because I overthink everything.
Also I seem to remember, in the olden days, you couldn't run speakers out of an earphone socket without some kind of adapter, but that was with 5mm heavy sockets and was a really log time ago.
But if the answer is that easy, very, very cool.
I believe numbers. I believe data. I believe Sturgeon's Law.
I also believe, having looked at schematics for the DFPlayer, that DAC_R and DAC_L are the inputs to the YX8002 amp. If DAC_R and DAC_L were truly as bad as some people say, it stands to reason that the output from SPK1 and SPK2 would be bad as well.
Here's a data point to ponder.
I used Audacity to generate a 30 second 440Hz sine wave and saved that data to an MP3 file on an uSD card that was then inserted into a DFPlayer.
I then hooked up a scope to one of the DAC outputs and played said file. Having observed the sine wave on the screen, I then moved the scope probe to one of the SPK connections and observed the sine wave there.
I won't be losing any sleep over what people have to say about the quality of the DAC outputs on the DFPlayer. Amplitude differences aside, they looked pretty similar to me.
But that's just me saying that. I believe people should run their own tests and come to their own conclusions.
