ESP8266 Client/Server communication

Hi - I used sample code from somewhere to get 2 ESP8266 modules communicating Client/Server directly. The distance between the client and server is approximately 12 feet.

I tried my projects in situ, but unfortunately the signals won't pass through a corrugated steel wall covering (guess I should have thought of that! d'oh).

I'm using D1 mini modules, and I've seen a "hack" to attach physical aerials to the on-board tracks coming out of the ESP modules.

Planning on putting 2.4G aerials above the void ceiling space where there would be line-of-sight between the modules, but have a concern about the length of the leads to the antennae. In this situation approximately 6 feet would be required.

Has anyone tried this ?

Would that antenna cable length be an issue ?

TIA

if the antennas have good quality coaxial cable 6ft should be no problem

there are esp8266 modules with antenna connector

thanks horace

can you share a link please Juraj

Ah yes... The D1 miniPro has an external aerial connector, and bonus is it's the same pinout as the D1 mini, a drop-in replacement ....
